I offer a flexible range of editorial services from project management through to proofreading. With extensive experience in educational publishing, I will work with you to ensure your content is clear and fit for purpose.
About me
An editor and project manager for over fifteen years, I started as in-house staff (for Scholastic) before launching O’Carroll Editorial in 2010. I specialise in educational publishing and have wide-ranging experience in the fields of primary and secondary education and ELT for Irish, UK and global markets.
I am well-qualified, having completed copy-editing and proofreading courses run by the Publishing Training Centre, and PRINCE2® project management.
Having lived in the heart of Warwickshire for over fifteen years, I recently made the move back to Ireland with my husband and two boys. We are now based in beautiful Donegal where we’re enjoying a life of open spaces, mountains and beaches, and all four seasons in one day!
What I do
I offer editing services at a level to suit your purpose. When you get in touch, we can decide on the level of work you need.
Project management: I can take editorial projects from concept to finished product or handle any smaller stages. I am used to working on combined print and digital material, and love working with multiple suppliers to deliver projects on time, to quality standard and within budget. I am happy to work remotely but will consider working in-house by prior arrangement.
Developmental editing: Sometimes known as content or structural editing, this involves refining and restructuring the text as appropriate. I am happy to work collaboratively with authors or however best suits your process.
Copy-editing: Focusing on the detail of the text, I will thoroughly check the spelling, grammar, punctuation and style, to ensure your publication is as coherent as possible.
Proofreading: A final quality check, proofreading concentrates on correcting inaccuracies of spelling, grammar, punctuation, style and consistency.
